Freshly graduated as a samurai, Kaito Suzuki has no time to relish his new title. Before his very eyes, his village and family are slaughtered by what he once believed to be impossible.

Their forms are vaguely humanoid, yet without distinct features, as if they were made of a misty, black substance. As he thought he would perish alongside his family, he is miraculously saved by whom, he does not know. How, he cannot fathom. And most importantly, he has no idea of what awaits him next. Desperate for answers about what happened that night, he embarks on a relentless quest for the truth.

But how could he have known that his curiosity would lead him straight to his grave? That the path he was about to take would guide him directly to the one responsible for his family's demise?
