Story Overview: Cosmic Irony

Science can explain everything-except destiny.

Pyro, a brilliant but emotionally detached scientist, has always lived by one truth: the answer cannot be changed. He believes in logic, in facts, in knowledge above all else. But one fateful night, everything he knows is shattered.

Drawn to a mysterious asteroid, Pyro uncovers a relic of immense power-the Artifact of Judgment-an object never meant for him, never meant for this world. The moment he touches it, his fate is sealed.

Soon after, an Angel of Destiny appears before him. "You possess an Artifact that does not belong to you," it declares. "But I cannot take it back. The Artifact has bonded with you. You are now this world's Enforcer of Judgment."

Burdened with an unimaginable role, Pyro realizes the cruel irony of his fate. The cold, logical scientist-the man who never cared for the emotions of others-is now forced to feel them. The Artifact doesn't simply grant him power-it makes him experience the emotions of those he judges, forcing him to confront the very thing he once ignored.

Seeking a way to rid himself of this curse, Pyro turns to his academic rival, Ember, a brilliant nano-biologist and his only intellectual equal. She is his opposite in every way-fiery, extroverted, full of passion and pride. The two have clashed for years, yet now, out of necessity, they are forced to work together. As they repeatedly attempt to separate Pyro from the Artifact, their rivalry evolves into something neither of them expected.

As time passes, Pyro begins to see the world in a new light-not just as equations and logic, but as something more. Humanity is not just about knowledge. It is about hope, understanding, and connection.

And so, life moves forward. Pyro and Ember continue their research, the world turns, and for the first time in a long while... everything seems right.

And everybody is happy.

Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories.
