Elaine is the only light tan-skinned girl in her classes. At school, she's often called the "white girl." She attends Evergreen Hills High, where all of the students have dark skin. Her father, Paul, is white with Irish ancestry, while her mother, Selma, is African American. Wanting to challenge herself, Elaine decides to try out for the school's volleyball team-a team made up entirely of Black athletes. Elaine is going to try and change her reputation as the schools "white girl"
