Anna Brown and her mother left Hilltrail, Kansas, in an unexpected hurry. Anna's mother chose Hawkins, Indiana, to reside in, considering their distant relatives, the Hendersons, were the only family that didn't let their wealth destroy them. Anna's a saint, but only in one category. She enjoys the risky shit like parties, sneaking out, friends, and most of all boys, but will she enjoy boys from Hawkins? Eddie Munson... the only sweet to certain people- boy. Billy Hargrove... the town's sex symbol. Steve Harrington... the town's biggest dick head-sweetheart. - A slow burn story- _______________________ After the assembly, I found him near the vending machines. He looked to be taking a break from the crowd, like me. "Steve," I said, expecting some sort of smile. He turned. Not a smile, not even a slight grin. Just surprise. "Hey," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. His feet were a mess, tangled with each other, like he was scared to face what happened to me. "Can we talk?" Something about his body language and the way he talked to me made me question every reason I thought he hadn't spoken to me. He looked around, like someone might catch him here. Like Tommy H. "Now?" My stomach turned inside out. For the week that had passed, something changed in him, something that I can't stand. He saved me and is now acting like he has power over me, like he dangled my life on a stick. "Yes, now." I crossed my arms, knowing my attitude doesn't faze him. He sighed and looked back at the vending machine. "Anna.... It's not the time." I blinked. "You carried me out of the police station, Steve. You saved me. And now it's like I-" "I said it's not the time." His voice was harder now. Even though he was looking at the vending machine, I could see in his eyes that he meant it. He stepped back. For a second, I thought he might come closer. Like those past times. Maybe explain. Anything. But he didn't.
