Tori, Holly, Samantha, and Julie, first semester freshmen at the university on the hill, don't voice those questions. Not when they have lunch together, not when they study, not when they party. But the questions hang in the air all around them.
Finding each other, they figure, is one of the saving graces of their lives. Or is it? Why do there have to be conflicts? Why do somebody else's decisions have to cause you problems? How do you work it out? You have to work it out. Because nobody wants to go it alone. Not for a hot minute.
