My name's Avery. I'm sixteen and live with my foster parents since I was ten. I share a room with my foster brother Jonah, who's eighteen. We used to share a room also with Mikey, but he died last year for 'trying to run away' but we know that's not true. Our foster dad, Eric, kept coming home drunk and that one night Mikey unfortunately was downstairs when he came home. The consequences that Eric might have faced at the bar that night, Mikey had to face. Jonah blames himself for not being there at that moment, but when we did get downstairs, the damage was too severe. So now Jonah's leaving for college and I'm going to be stuck here with 5-8 year olds. Well not necessarily. I'm leaving too. But Jonah doesn't know. Nobody does...

When you're young, you think you know it all. When you go through foster care, You have to grow up fast. Meet an 8-year-old boy who thought he knew it all. He just wanted to grow up as fast as possible to escape all the "care" he was forced to have. But when a family finds out about his past, they want to help him in any way they can. In this case, letting him be a little kid again, letting him feel safe while being himself. This story is about his first days in his new foster home and gives a little glimpse of what happens when you don't let the outside world dictate what is right or wrong.
