They are a mixed baseball team due to the school not wanting to split the guys and girls. When the plane crashed everyone was freaking out. People died the team buried them. No one was horribly hurt but the panic was settling in that they weren't going to get out of this place. It's been 8 months, a grueling 8 months food is running low and fights are breaking out among the team though the insanity has already kicked in for most.
