After the slaughter of nearly all who she held dear, Arané is determined to save the life of the only one who had survived the slaughter along with her. And she would have to make the whole empire her enemy in doing so. Yet she would find unexpected allies is this mission. A crew of seemingly ordinary thieves. But their goals were greater than that just making some money. They were planning the downfall if the whole empire.

Irvin, heir to house Germain has unrightfully been accused of the murder of his own parents. Should he fail to prove his innocence in time, then his life will meet a short end. The true killer however, was always close, hidden in plane sight.

An undead being known as 'the feathered one' has been traveling around the empire, targeting and killing noblemen that have presumably wronged her in life. Her path and future targets had been deemed untraceable for a long time, however, a certain thief in the imperial capital has shown that she knows more about the feathered one and her origin than anyone could have guessed.

It does not take long for it come to light that these three events are not just connected, but different pieces to the same puzzle.
