Being born and raised in Adelaide, in Australia, Ashley Sato had a traumatic childhood, with her parents pretending to love each other for the first few years of her life, until the day their divorce was finalised.
Living full time with her mother after she got full custody of her, the only time she could see her father was on weekend from when she was 9 till 14, and when he finally moved back to his home country.
During the first summer she was gonna ever spend fully with her father in Chiba, Japan, that's just outside of Tokyo, Ash meets a boy a few months older then her who she spend most of the summer with, as he was there for the summer as well.
"From now on, I'm going to be a 2 hour flight away from you instead of 10."
"Oh my god, your moving to Japan?! Now I can visit you and my parents at the same time."
But when it was finally time to go back to Australia, and they hugged each other goodbye at the airport, and that was the day the two started to text and call almost every day.
And that's how the story of Ashley Sato and Haku Shota, going from friends, to long distance best friends, to long distance lovers.
What happens when Ash meets a stranger in a convenient store in Japan?
And what happens when the long distance friends finally fall in love after 2 years?
