years of craft and exhaustion of scientists and technicians - all gone within a few seconds. it was to be expected, after all it took them years to even find a way of keeping the magic to overwhelm the town and make it a place where humanity could reside in. that it would explode at some point had been a theory many had, and so it became true, the core of the town they had crafted breaking it's confinement and destroying the city, killing almost all of it's residents.

there were only few survivors, from millions of people, there were only around hundred still alive, now stuck in the wasteland the city has become. soon after the explosion, a capsule appeared around the city, and any physical contact with it burns the body to a point of death.

not only that, but with the explosion and the capsule came two other things, that were scientifically barely explainable, one even less than the other. the first thing would be the infection, which seems to especially target animals, turning them into mindless, bloodthirsty beasts, which will stop at nothing to get some flesh down their throats. animals infected will immediately attack once they see, smell or hear you, and should their salvia or blood get in contact with an open wound, the other will be infected as well - humans aren't spared from the infection.

the second would be, that the surviving humans carry powers, apparently coming from within the core, and after the explosion, they've been brought over to the survivors to hold them. due to differences in powers, the survivors split up in groups, each group consisting of people with a specific power. the only exception would be the normal group, who seemingly have gotten nothing from the core, and have to depend on human abilities to survive.
