Risha is the Heir Ascendant to Novem. Next in line to the throne of an empire abandoned by its gods, she finds herself on the cusp of a glorious reign... until it is stolen from her, and she is forced to flee the capital in secrecy on the pain of death. Esel is a man beautiful on the surface, but ugly in spirit... at least, that is what he would tell you if you were to ask him. A not-so-simple man who devotes his days to the creation of art in a small town at the edge of Novem, Esel hides a secret; he is an immortal. Once a wandering demigod and a warlord with hands steeped deeply in blood, Esel has laid his head on the laps of Mercy in search of peace and rest, until Risha crashes unceremoniously into his life. Together, the both of them embark on a quest to claim Risha's throne, seek an audience with the High Daimon of the Sun, and break Esel's curse of immortality. Simple, right? Well, the Reader doesn't think so.

The gods are watching. The past is bleeding into the present. And Zeph is running out of time. Two months after surviving his so-called ascension, Zeph is still piecing himself together. The voices in his head-one of them belonging to a long-dead god-haven't quieted. His nightmares are growing more vivid. And Astaroth... Astaroth is hiding something. When an old enemy resurfaces with a devastating truth, Zeph and Astaroth are thrust into a battle they aren't ready for. Chronica has returned, stronger than before, and she's not alone. As divine power begins to stir once more, the line between who they were and who they are now starts to blur. Zeph was never meant to survive. Astaroth was never meant to remember. And when fate demands its due, they may have to destroy each other to break free. What does it mean to be divine?
