My Vow of Ruin

Xae awoke in a dressing room. She had been dressed in a white marriage gown that draped down to the floor. As strangers rushed into the room, they ushered her down the aisle. The chapel was empty except for a nervous priest and an impatient man. Standing before them, she attempted to seek an explanation. The man grumbled at the priest's stuttering. With a swift movement, he reached into his pocket, and a loud bang echoed through the chapel. The priest had fallen, and a puddle had formed at our feet. The man glared at me and finally spoke, "He was taking too long. Come here and sign the marriage papers". Xae's voice trembles, but she forced the words out. "Why me?". The man stared without blinking, and his voice was ice. "Because you were the only one who ran."
