" Wow. Where's yours?" I say looking around trying to locate his picture. Colton shows me a picture near one of the windows. I leaned closer to examine the photo, my heart aching at how young he looked. "How old were you? You look so young!" I ask touching the photo carefully.
"It's been almost five years now," Colton replied, his tone shifting to a more somber note. "I was 12 when I was first diagnosed. I've been in remission a couple of times, but unfortunately, the cancer keeps coming back." His voice dropped to a whisper, the weight of his experience hanging heavily in the air.
He's been doing this for five years! How? It's been like five hours, and already, I'm overwhelmed and frustrated. I can't imagine five years of this! As I observe him, a mix of empathy and admiration wells up inside me."How do you get through it? How do you not just give up?" I ask hesitantly.
"Um, well honestly I just take it one day at a time.
