It started of just as an agreement, between two strangers. Strangers who run away from their past to escape reality. It was simple. Meet at 1am. Spend an hour together. No real life problems. No real names. Then walk away.
For sixty minutes they could be anyone they want- a poet and a ghost. A criminal and a dreamer. Just two people pretending life wasn't catching up on them.
It wasn't supposed to mean anything, but do we always get what we want?
But somewhere between stolen glances over black coffee and whispered confessions at the dead of night, the game or should I say the escape stopped feeling like one.
Maybe because real life finally starts bleeding into the fiction they created. Maybe it's the way tension always seemed to find its way when ever they are together.
Maybe it's the way he always showed up first, like he was afraid she wouldn't come.
Maybe it was the way she memorised his silhouette before he disappeared into the city.
Or maybe it was the way time always ran too fast.
But the thing about hourglasses?
They just don't track time,
They count down to the end.
And when the last grain of the sand falls, one of them has to decide- walk away like they promised....or break the only rule that ever mattered.
