Charlie has been recently released on parole for a mistake he made years prior. In an attempt to make some extra cash to pay off his prison protection debts, he is caught trying to rob Roberta Hastings, the wealthy homeowner who intends to help Charlie pay off his debts. Caught on camera in the act of stealing and not wanting to violate his parole and return to prison, Charlie agrees to a full time job working for the woman to help fix up her aging home. However when the prison gang comes to collect, Charlie realizes he will never be able to pay them off. That is until Roberta asks for his help on a different job. One that she promises will keep him safe and pay off his debt in full. So long as he is able to stick it out until the end. Other Duties as Needed is a story about finding yourself with the help of others, sometimes with an extra dose of convincing.

In a world where living openly comes with a heavy price, Charlie, a 26-year-old transsexual gay in the Philippines, finds himself suffocated by the daily discriminations and the suffocating pressure of being a breadwinner in a broken family. Trapped in a toxic workplace and carrying the weight of his family's burdens, he longs for a life of simple happiness, free from the constant judgment and his own crippling insecurities. Inspired by a favorite author, Charlie begins to write his life story, pouring out his raw emotions and deepest frustrations onto the page. His journal becomes his only refuge-a space where he can finally speak the truth about his struggles, his longing for acceptance, and his painful journey toward self-love. This isn't just a story about being gay; it's a story about the universal struggle to find a voice, a place, and a sense of self in a world that often refuses to understand. Will he find the strength to rewrite his own ending, or will he be forever stuck in the shadow of his past?
