Azuma Hikari, daughter of a half English, half Japanese man who devoted his life to saving lives and a Japanese woman who devoted her life to music, has lived all her life in Seattle with her father; her mother, on the other hand, lived in Japan to pursue her dream that revolves around music. From the time she took her very first baby steps and said her very first words to the time where her cheerleading team won the state's championship, her father has always watched from the side-lines and cared for her baby daughter's happiness while her mother watched from the computer screen from time to time.
Hikari thought she had her life planned out; finishing her high school years in Seattle alongside her group of friends, going to her dream college in Georgetown, and of course, she thought she would stay by her father's side, making him proud of what she's grown into.
But then again, life has a way of messing with people's plans.
So when she receives the news that she'll be shipped off to Japan to 'get to know her Japanese heritage' and to finish her last two years of high school, she is less than ecstatic.

After an accident that should've been my end, I woke up... in another world. Sounds great, right? Well, it would be-if it weren't for the fact that, over time, I realized I'd landed in the plot of a novel I barely remembered. My plan was simple: live quietly, keep a low profile, and let the story play out without me. Spoiler: it didn't go that way. Between people not doing what they should, "coincidences" that feel tailor-made to mess with me, and problems popping up faster than I can think, my plan went straight to hell. And to top it off, every time I try to stay out of the drama... I end up neck-deep in it. Even before the "official" story starts, I'm already dealing with my own disasters. [COMPLETED] "If you're going to do something, do it the lady way." Straight forward, gracefully , not letting anyone in your way and keeping your eyes on the goal. That, my friend, was the lady way. Jun Takahashi comes from a small family that people at Ouran would consider 'poor'. Her mother always taught her growing up to do things the lady way, which was to still act like a lady but be dominate and not let anything stand in your way. Be aggressive, yet graceful at the same time. Be a lady but take charge like a man would. As her mother gets more ill, she only wishes for the best for her daughter and her older son Kyo. The siblings decide to try and get into Ouran High School for a better life but Kyo shakes his head at the idea of her going to Ouran, stating that she's just a fragile little girl and would break under the pressure of such a school. He says that she wouldn't make it through the year there, even if she was a boy. Neighbors agree, friends agree, her father agrees, grandparents agree and heck, even the pets could agree at this point. Deciding to prove them all wrong - she takes charge. Yet again, she takes charge and does it the lady way, agreeing to become a host to get her and her family out of this debt, and show her brother that she can do this too.
