The One That Got Away is the story of Minho and Jisung, two young me who meet in college at a time when neither is really looking for anything serious. Minho is driven, serious, and focused on his studies, working toward a career in law, while Jisung is an artist at heart-free-spirited, spontaneous, and constantly caught up in his music. They become friends quickly, staying up late to talk about everything from their dreams for the future to their frustrations with life. Over time, that friendship grows into something more, but neither of them knows how to handle it. Minho's terrified of what those feelings might mean, and Jisung, unsure about how to handle his emotions, is too afraid to risk losing the one person who truly understands him.
Then, Jisung gets the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to study abroad and take his music to new places. It's something he can't pass up, but it leaves Minho behind, grappling with the distance between them. The years that follow bring new experiences, new people, and new challenges, but both of them can't quite let go of the connection they once had. Minho throws himself into his career, while Jisung explores the world with his music, but in the back of their minds, there's always this question: Could there have been something more between them?
The story is about love, loss, and finding their way back to each other after time has passed. It's about wondering if the one who slipped away from you can still be found again and if what was lost can ever truly be found. When Minho and Jisung finally reconnect, they're faced with the past they never quite left behind and the feelings they can no longer ignore. The question is: Can they start over, or is it too late for a love that's been waiting to happen for too long?
