The story opens on the night of Ariel's murder. Jason awakens to the scent of burning feathers, his mother's screams echoing through the halls of Hell's palace. Jason and Bane rush to find Ariel's body impaled on a blade forged from celestial fire-the only weapon capable of killing a dark angel permanently.
Satan stands over her, his expression unreadable. "It wasn't me," he claims.
Jason doesn't believe him. Bane clenches his fists, already plotting revenge.
