In the year 2086, the world is a graveyard of ash and radiation. Seventy-four years ago, an unexplained solar surge triggered a catastrophic event known as The Meltdown-a chain reaction that detonated every nuclear reactor on Earth. The first to go were Chernobyl's aging reactors, followed by the rest, plunging humanity into an age of fire, famine, and unrelenting nuclear winter.

In the ruins of Seattle, now one of the most hostile wastelands on the planet, Cody Sarge emerges from a bunker that was once his family's salvation. Alone and desperate, he must navigate The Exclusion Zone, a nightmarish landscape of collapsed skyscrapers, irradiated rain, and grotesque mutants warped by decades of radiation exposure. But the creatures aren't the only horrors lurking in the ruins-something else stirs beneath the ruins, something drawn to the echoes of the past.

With only his father's old rifle and a fading map scrawled with warnings, Cody embarks on a journey to find any remnants of civilization. But in The Exclusion Zone, survival isn't just about fighting the elements or avoiding the monsters in the dark-it's about confronting the truth of what The Meltdown really was... and what still lingers at its core.

The sun caused the first destruction. But what if it wasn't done yet?

Not so long ago, humanity fought the gods above them. The war against the Ethereals was long and bloody, and only the discovery of magic saved humanity from total annihilation. With the fusion of magic and technology, they clawed their way to a stalemate; in time, the war was over. Humanity had secured their freedom...or so they thought. The Ethereal War changed life on Earth forever. The world is now plagued by glyphstorms-- constant, magic-infused dust storms that drive those who linger too long to insanity. Traveling within them is thought to be impossible, and the only shelter comes in the form of magical shield domes over humanity's cities. Progress is rapid, yet isolated to pockets of civilization. In the same world where some people thrive, many others struggle, their spirits kept alive only by the hope of a better future. But the future is uncertain; until humanity can discover the secrets of shield tech and brave the storms that divide them, they will never be truly free. ------- This is a collection of short stories that take place within Solace, a fictional science-fantasy setting I have been working on since January 2025. This is not the mainline story, but may involve side plots, alternate perspectives of story events, etc. Basically this is my way of getting back into writing on Wattpad and having a catch-all for any short stories related to Solace. This will be updated as I go, and I'd love to hear feedback! [This cover is a placeholder and I don't take credit for the art. It was taken from a copyright-free source]

However, the massive impact of the meteor is so powerful, that despite redirection, explodes huge, which causes the radioactive rock, to burn everything within a one hundred-mile radius, destroying the facility, and leaving Aaron and his team to be presumed dead. Forty-two years later, now in 2076, Austin along with James and Julia emerge from the now empty and inactive cryogenic pods, which kept them alive, and not aging at all. However, the world as they know it is in turmoil. With technology and machines becoming sentient, and taking over the world, most of the planet is now a dry and barren desert wasteland, with seventy-give percent of human population now extinct. guys please don't read this anymore lmao i write totally differently now💋 _________________ In a future where humans are genetically modified -- 'altered' -- at the age of sixteen, the world has been, until now, a safe place. Without changing a person's personality, undergoing the Alteration perfects their appearance, IQ, and even their immunity to diseases. No human passes the age of sixteen without being Altered. In the blink of an eye, things change. An ominous message is sent out to all of those below the age of sixteen, providing precise instructions that suggest they flee. Simultaneously, a deadly virus starts to spread all about the world, attacking only the Altered -- every human over the age of sixteen. The virus eats at the modified human brain, and soon the Unaltered begin to realise that the Altered are losing their minds. Home is no longer safe. Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Set on a pristine, futuristic Earth, this is the apocalypse like you've never seen it before. (Rated mature for graphic depictions of violence and mild language.) "In this world, nothing is ever as it seems..." In 2071, the world burned. Nations collapsed, anarchy reigned then nuclear fire consumed the Earth, leaving only ash, ruin - and a few survivors. John Walker managed to drag his two sons, Ben and Clay, into a Visr Corp cryo-bunker, sealing them away from the apocalypse just in time. When they awoke in 2159, the planet was unrecognizable - a deadly wasteland where survival is a daily struggle. John led his boys from the bunker, through the wasteland to Detroit, a fortified city that somehow escaped the bombs. Behind its giant wall, life was harsh but livable. Sixteen years later, Ben and Clay are hardened men, shaped by the brutal lessons of the wasteland - and by their father's strict, iron will. But there's one problem... John has been missing for over a year. Now, one job - a simple run, or so the brothers think - will pull them into a deadly chain of events. Secrets buried since the end of the world are about to surface, blood will be spilled, and the revelations could change Detroit forever.
