A 2024 NaNoWriMo story 

"'I have to go!" I yell, before my feet take over and I'm shoving my way through the crowd. Eliza says something, but I can't hear her... I have to get away." || A Shifter, a humanoid creature that can take the form of any existing or imaginary being, lives among humans. For any other Shifter, this would be fine, and they could just take the form of a human. Super easy, right? For any other, maybe, but this one has lost control over their ability and is constantly changing into strange combinations with no way to stop it. They've lived with humans for seven years, wearing cloaks and keeping their eyes down to avoid unwanted attention. This worked fine, at least it did, until they literally bumped into Eliza, a girl their age. Luckily, their wonky powers shifted them into a creature that resembles a human, but it's bound to change eventually, and Eliza will learn the truth. And Eliza is the only friend they've had in a long time. Can the Shifter keep their origins a secret and stay in the only place that's ever felt like home? Or will everything slip through their fingers, just like it always has?All Rights Reserved

I actually lay eyes on a shapeshifting cryptid and I'm not going to live to tell about it. Great. If I can get Skurdulka to let me leave (alive), I'll have a story to tell. Maybe the cryptid's not so bad. We might even have some things in common; no one gets what the f#ck we are and we're both sick of people.

"Don't even think about it." I stood frozen in place as he said those words from behind me, which sent shivers down my spine. The rain started running down my face as I started thinking of a way out of here. My body trembled in fear knowing that he could easily hurt me. I blinked away the water running into my eyes due to the rain. My thoughts were disturbed when he suddenly spun me around to face him, his face just inches away from mine. "P-Please don't hurt m-me." I stuttered out. I tried to sound brave and not let my fear show, but my mouth betrayed me. His golden red eyes flickered with a hint of pain for a moment then back to a cold stare, "I'd never hurt you, never put you in harm's way and I'm never letting him take you from me, you're mine." He said in a deep low voice, almost a growl, and his eyes seemed to have gotten darker. 'What the hell is that supposed to mean?!' I tried taking a step back but his grip on my arm tightened. It hurt. "L-let me go, you, you're hurting me!" I looked up at him scared, his eyes were now completely dark, and the next thing I noticed were pointed teeth poking out from his lips. I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance. And ran. ~~~ Nora Brown, a normal adult, living a normal life. Moving away from home to start fresh and meet new people. Just going where life takes her. Who knew that just one short encounter at work with a god-like man, would flip her life entirely upside down, and nothing would ever be the same again. So much for normal.

But will anyone love her as in that world, it's soulmates making her to not know about this as the only way you can know is touching them physically on the hands, but she got five marks making her to be confused to what the markings mean fully as she's not from that world. It's making her to look them up in a book to figure it out, but she didn't expect to have two Beast Kin, a Fae, A Merfolk and a Half-Fae as her soulmates making her to be the only human in the relationship between the five as she's the only one for them all. The two Beast Kins are also soulmates to each other like the Fae and Merfolk are to each other as well, too. How will she handle this as there's also trades you need to do to handle life in the real world. Can she handle this new world or will she have a hard time adapting to this new world?
