Jack Flemming was supposed to be dead. The world mourned him, his family moved on, and his name was carved into a headstone over an empty casket. But Jack didn't stay buried. Now, living in the shadows as Arcus, he fights to protect those who can't protect themselves, all while struggling to reclaim the life he lost. But the past isn't done with him. A new predator lurks in the darkness-Daemon, a ruthless tactician who watches, waits, and strikes without warning. As Jack races to uncover the truth behind this new threat, he finds an unlikely ally in Wraith, a mysterious vigilante with her own secrets. Together, they walk a dangerous path, one where trust is a luxury and survival is never guaranteed. But while Jack battles in the streets, a different war rages at home. His daughter, Lizzie, refuses to bow to the oppressive control of her stepfather, Todd-a man determined to shape her future in his image. Jack's son, Jasen, is caught in the middle, slipping further from his reach. And Jessica, the woman he once called his wife, is either blind to the danger or unwilling to see it. Fighting criminals is easy. Saving his family from a man he can't simply eliminate? That's the real challenge. With enemies closing in from all sides and time running out, Jack must decide: how far will he go to protect the people he loves? And how much of himself will he lose in the process? This AI-assisted novel is a collaborative effort between Steve Zatezalo and cutting-edge AI technology. By blending human creativity with AI-driven support, Veil of Shadows weaves a gripping narrative of action, intrigue, and moral conflict. With dynamic storytelling and complex characters, this project pushes the boundaries of how fiction is created, proving that even in the digital age, stories still thrive in the hands of those willing to tell them.

Winner The Crystal Awards 2016, Best Multimedia Story (3d Place). A spinster doctor rents her spare room to a brain-damaged patient who doesn't know he is a former undercover agent targeted for execution by a powerful criminal. ~o~ ~o~ ~o~ John Doe remembers nothing of his life before waking up in the hospital. He doesn't know he was a dangerous man, and he somehow has survived assassination by even more dangerous men. He doesn't even know how to speak English, or read, or count. Even after his body heals, he will need long-term supervision and care to re-learn how to live. Dr. Mitchell Oberon has been married to her surgical work for too long. So, she resists being attracted to a brain-damaged patient with the body of Adonis and the mind of a child. Agent Frank Stone, of Homeland Security, forces the doctor to take John Doe into her own home while he recovers. Stone, who knows John Doe's past history well, says it's not safe to send him back to the place he lived before he was "killed" by his enemies. If it ever becomes known that John survives, his foes will make sure he doesn't live long. Mitchell tries to protect her heart while she protects the innocent John from a hostile world. As they live together, the two begin to teach one another how to live. Hopefully, they'll also learn how not to die -- because they'll soon be betrayed into the hands of murderers.
