The Battle of Thessala left the Ultramarines crippled and humbled, worst of all their Primarch was nearly killed, only prevented by the immediate actions of the surviving marines. For 10,000 years Guilliman sat in stasis, immobile, and unable to act. In this degraded state Chaos pressed their advantage, stretching its tendrils into his mind attempting to corrupt him for their own desires.
This is a work of Fanfiction; I do not own GW or Warhammer 40k. Some chapters explore the canon universe of 40k and some of the fan made what-if universes.

The Iron Seraph
It was supposed to be an ordinary strike mission. Get in, kill the xenos, liberate the human captives, and get out. But that was not what happened. Sergeant Adrian Aurelius embarked in a drop pod, alone; ready to make planetfall. Warhammer 40k: a long journey
Questions often do not produce answers, the curiosity behind it is what motivates the progress to search for them. That's why he's so curious about everything. Why? Why is he here? why did they bring him to life? why is he so different from the other? Sometimes, he wondered about it, he wanted to ask his father, the Emperor...but maybe, maybe he doesn't need to. A story of a "man" who has no other choice but to fight and suffer alongside his people throughout history. Will the endless cruelty of the universe subdued him? Will the boundless madness of the dark gods and creatures of the warps break him down? He doesn't know, in fact, he doesn't know a single answer...but right now, it doesn't matter to him anymore. The galaxy is still burning, Tasks are at hand and will he be able to finish his father's wish? He'll find out on a long journey. Renegade (Aquila, Book 3)
[Sequel to 'Imperium'] Following the successful defense of Alamarri and the sudden withdrawal of Hepharion's Chaos Marines, Caius returned to Macragge in time to see the return of his Primarch and receive a new mission from his Captain: find Hepharion and bring him down, no matter the cost, and chase down and secure the remains of the ancient Titan project. At first, resources seem scarce with the Black Crusade taking much of the attention and firepower of the Ultramarines. However, help comes in an unexpected form when an Inquisitor's acolyte appears with an unexpected offer for the men of the Twentieth. Across the stars, Bahad is called before the Council of Farseers of his Craftworld and desperately pleads his case for his alliance with Caius and his hunt for Hepharion. However, this falls on deaf ears when the Craftworld, concerned about his continued association with the Imperium, orders him into a temporary arrest to await further judgment. While in isolation, plagued by his visions of what shall happen without his involvement, he, too, receives an unexpected visitor: a Harlequin Solitaire with a keen interest on seeing him reunited with his Ultramarine. [Sequel to 'Renegade'] Successfully routing a potential Chaos invasion and a Genestealer takeover of the Shrine World of Cosperan, Caius once again turns his attention to Hepharion and pursues him off planet. Surprisingly aided by the fallen Faustinius, their key to unlocking the entirety of Project Apocalypsis Dominus lies in a sealed data cache, and it is a race against time to unseal it before Hepharion does so with the cache that he himself is in possession of. Armed with a location - the planet of Novrasa - the Astartes of the Twentieth, Deathwatch Squad Ostentia, and the few survivors of the Cosperan Crusade set off for its sister, the paradise world of Orphis, to begin a plan to get to the uninhabited ghost planet. With a newly refreshed Bahad as their psyker, they feel on equal footing with Hepharion for the first time.
