Mature
After a drunken mistake, Conner starts seeing Sofia more often and slowly pieces together the truth-she hides an abusive home life and battles PTSD and depression. Guilt consumes him for ever dismissing struggles like hers, but before he can make things right, her friend Lucas turns violent. To protect her, Conner kills him.

Lucas's psychotic brother, Adam, takes revenge by kidnapping Sofia from her home while Conner isn't there, tormenting him with videos of her assault. Desperate to save her, Conner walks into Adam's trap, enduring a brutal beating before managing to kill him.

As the nightmare ends, Conner collapses in Sofia's arms while she breaks down. Later, in the hospital, he wakes up and, despite everything, pretends to have forgotten her-just to mess with her. Furious but overwhelmed with relief, she scolds him, proving that even after everything, they've survived together.

(Book 2) *Contains spoilers below* "I needed more closure than what you gave me." I half lied. "It feels like an open wound someone keeps pouring salt on." His expression remained hard and cold. Almost distant. "I don't know what you want from me, Willow. You coming here isn't closing any wounds, it's just opening up old ones." I let out a sigh and rubbed my hands over my face. "I just needed to see you, okay? It's a relief to know you're even alive right now." I was begging myself not to cry. Noah shifted a little and folded his arms against his chest. "I don't know what you want me to say." "Anything is better than nothing." I said as I took a step closer. "I missed you. A lot." He peeked from under the mess of curls falling over his eyes. "You want me to tell you I missed you too? Is that what you're doing here?" I clenched my jaw shut and curled my fingers into fists at my sides. "I don't want anything from you." Scott isn't gone...yet. But he still refuses to let Noah go without harming anyone Noah cares about. It's been nine months since Scott took Noah under his wing and moved away from California. Willow hasn't seen either of them since the night Noah left with the promise to come back. When Willow finds Noah, she didn't expect what she finds. Noah's completely transformed into something she never thought she would see again. Besides the arrogant, obnoxious attitude, came countless tattoos, a ring through his lip, and a new name. With Scott still lingering and Noah's new found attitude, there's bound to be a little trouble. Way more than Willow bargained for. And maybe, just maybe, Scott isn't the real enemy.
