"I think it does," Emily teased, resting her head against his chest. "We needed some time alone, didn't we?"

Ellie grinned, tilting his face toward hers. "I think I need it more than you know," he whispered before closing the distance between them and kissing her softly on the lips. The kiss deepened, tender yet full of passion-a quiet expression of everything they had been through, and the love that still burned bright between them.

Just as Ellie pulled away, he heard a soft clearing of the throat.

Olivia was standing in the doorway, looking slightly startled, but there was a genuine smile on her face. "I didn't mean to interrupt," she said lightly, her voice warm. "But I must say, it's good to see you both so happy."

Emily and Ellie jumped apart, a flush coloring their cheeks. "Mom!" Emily stammered, caught completely off guard. "I-We didn't expect you-".....

I didn't mean it like that." he wanted to tell her why he thought like that. He never believed in rumors when he himself was victim of a gossiping group. "Whatever it is we will talk tomorrow. I want to be alone. It's getting difficult for her to even breathe. "It was your eyes, the damn eyes. Who gave me the false hope. They say, "Eyes speak the truth," but what about mine? Couldn't you feel the sincerity within them, expressing my deep affection for you? Why didn't you see the love shining in them? Was it too complex to understand? Couldn't you notice the warmth as they gazed at you? They search for you in every corner, If only you realized how they silently echoed the emotions I couldn't articulate. Arguing with her was as futile as making a sand castle on a seashore. "You know, gone is the era when people used to preserve the flowers of their loved ones. We don't have people like that anymore!" She said as she faced him. "We don't have that kind of love anymore." He said looking straight into her eyes. She held his gaze through the mirror for a while, trying to read through him. "I agree." Murmuring under her breath, she turned around. Taking a deep breath, watching her retreating figure, he brought out his favorite poetry book from the shelf. After he was sure she was not looking, he ruffled through the pages till he found a dried Hibiscus. The very same one which had fallen from her bag when he first saw her. With a small smile, he cautiously caressed the petals. He closed the book with a fond sigh and found her looking at him. She couldn't hold his gaze for long and looked down, crimson covering her cheeks. He shook his head with a chuckle.
