The Witch of Midland Valley

The people of the village of Gleane lived a peaceful, simple life, keeping to themselves and not conceding themselves with the world outside their borders. That all changed when a stranger arrived, out of breath and asking for help. He recounts the harrowing tale of a battle he fought with a creature, in a nearby forest. He claimed it had large, yellow eyes, scales, and large talons, with fire that shot from its mouth. He arrived seeking refuge and a place to rest, and after some debate, and a vote, it was decided to let the stranger stay. He worked to gain their trust, taught them how to fight and became part of the village, until the villagers felt comfortable enough to let their guards down. When he saw the opportunity, and the timing was right, he began to put his plan into motion to, slowly, take control of the village, with the help of a witch that lived in a cabin on a hill, past the forest that had become known to them as "The Forbidden Forest". The rest, as they say, is history.
