Emma Pollie was just like any normal 17 year old teenager. But, she only had one parent.
A mother.
Her father died in a car crash when she was 14 years old, and ever since then her life has been nothing but a living hell. After he died people started treating her differently, at school, at home, any where that people were.
They all treated her like trash, no one ever gave her a chance, even her mother. After her father, Steven died her mother, Susan, became an alcoholic and into drugs. Whenever she is home she always yells at Emma, for no reason at all.
Before, some nights when Susan would come home drunk she would beat her own daughter just for the heck of it. Then she would leave her there in the house while she went to go and get high with her "friends".
The friends that Emma has left, are surprised that she hasn't turned out to be just like her mother. Emma only has two close friends who know everything that happens to her because some nights she hurts so bad she has to leave the house and go spend the night with them.
But, what will happen when Susan and Emma are forced to leave their house and move somewhere else because they can't afford the rent? What will happen when Emma and Justin, a boy she meets at her new school, cross paths? Will she open up for him and tell him about herself? Or will she keep her guard up and just ignore him?

Michael's Ghost Girl
This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him. Outside the walls
War had just broke out between the states of America. Two states remained. Yet only one wins. One state had won by peace and one state had won by destruction.
