During the Second World War, Lily's father serves in the army, leaving her to live with her mother, Hazel, a dedicated teacher. Every weekend, Lily escapes to her grandmother Olivia's house, where they share a bond that feels more like best friends than family. Lily has been battling a mysterious illness since childhood. She frequently faints and, stubbornly, refuses to see a doctor. As time passes, the cause of her fainting spells becomes a growing concern, but the truth remains hidden-until one day, the path to understanding her condition is revealed, and the search for a remedy begins.
