Before coming to Hogwarts, Hermione's biggest fear had been of the dark. However, over the years, that changed from things like a room full of Devil's Snare to a basilisk hunting her down around the corner. That changed to a werewolf chasing her in the night to a dragon trying to kill her best friend. Those changed to riding invisible death-horses and facing down deatheaters. All that time, Hermione didn't stop to think that maybe what she should fear the most wasn't what was in front of her, but was inside of her.
