Xylia doesn't want to get married at nineteen. She doesn't want to prepare to be the queen of Silvestria one day. She doesn't want to stay locked up in the palace until then. But she does all of these things, and more, because it makes her father happy. 
When she gets thrown off of a flying ship and into the underwater world of the lost kingdom Abyssia, everything changes. The queen, although cold and calculating, helps her open up. She starts making decisions based off of her own needs. 
Of course, she still has premonitions about her new lifestyle. For one, she doesn't want to learn the truth about her father. But she does this, and more, because it is necessary for the good of Abyssia.
