Ras manusia dan seluruh makhluk di Heristya hidup dalam damai hingga kemunculan makhluk dari kegelapan yang disebut Darkness. Awalnya, mereka mengira kehadiran Darkness bukanlah ancaman besar. Namun, mimpi buruk itu menjadi nyata ketika Darkness terus berkembang, jumlah mereka bertambah tanpa henti, hingga akhirnya memenuhi seluruh wilayah Heristya.

Tak ada yang menyangka seberapa cepat Darkness menyebar. Mereka menyerang apa pun yang berada di dekatnya, memicu peperangan besar antara manusia, makhluk-makhluk Heristya, dan gerombolan Darkness yang semakin merajalela.

Sudah lebih dari 200 tahun sejak itu. Darkness masih berkeliaran, terus bermunculan tanpa henti, memangsa siapa pun yang tersisa. Generasi demi generasi manusia telah berusaha melawan, tetapi hanya sedikit yang berhasil bertahan.
