The Birthright Book Series takes place on an alternative earth, called "Alter", which is our earth, but instead it consisted of four forges, or regions. Aria, Resigan, Uraein and Maelesk which were a multitude of different sized islands and climate. The culture of the people who lived in these countries, were very civilized and scientific, especially when the "Steam Revolution" took place in the mid 1800's, making the culture like an alternative Steampunk.
