Summary:

Zyir, a 16-year-old boy, lives with his mother, Angie, and his two younger sisters, Jackie and Mary Anna. His mother's boyfriend, Reggie, is abusive and controlling, making life at home unbearable. One night, after yet another violent episode, Zyir finally stands up to Reggie and forces him out of their home. For three weeks, things seem peaceful-until Zyir comes home from school one day to find Reggie's car in the driveway.

Fearing the worst, Zyir rushes inside and finds his mother on the floor, bruised and terrified, with Reggie standing over her. Fueled by rage, Zyir attacks Reggie, but the fight turns brutal.
