Valerie is a school caretaker-mending leaks, dodging footballs, and keeping everything ship shape. She's not a social butterfly but she gets things done. She doesn't need much attention or praise. Just let her get on with it.

Then one day a god from another dimension turns up and decides she's the best person to save their home planet. Next thing she knows she's been made Custodian of Ninurta, a world of dragons, magic and utter chaos.

At first she has no idea how she's supposed to help - she wouldn't call herself the hero type - but she's determined to prove herself useful. It's not glamorous and she's not entirely comfortable with the whole World Saviour thing but if fixing things (even if it's a world of dragons and messes she barely understands) is what's needed then she's in. Valerie's no quitter and she'll be damned if she can't make a difference, one pile of dust at a time.
