The void. Infinite, oppressive, unfathomable. An eternal void. And yet, it whispers. Every two years, at each conjunction, ships rush toward New Gaea, carrying settlers, goods, and the promise of a better future. Ryan Conrad is among them. Not for a mission, nor a quest, but to reunite with his brother after four long years of absence. In the shadow of Global Control's great decisions, humanity expands, adapts, and relentlessly shapes its destiny. Access to New Gaea's resources has shattered the old order, erasing the hardships of a world once doomed to austerity. But progress comes at a cost, and some are beginning to wonder whether this newfound balance is as stable as it seems. As Ryan prepares to set foot once more on the most precious of moons, one thing becomes clear: everything has changed. And this journey will be more than just a simple visit. Where the stars fall silent, the void whispers eternally.

Rachel, a junior assistant in the cargo bay, wasn't prepared for the spaceship's AI to gain awareness during what should have been a routine update, nor had anyone expected it to take exception to the crew and the crates of illegal cargo aboard. Rachel races against time to try and get life-saving systems back online while stranded in the middle of deep space. Unfortunately for her, the AI can access every system, door, and airlock. As truths emerge, the AI realizes that even computers can make miscalculations, and it focuses on the young woman who had dared to confront it. Rachel is left floundering when the AI decides that she would make an excellent captain, albeit one in need of training. As she struggles to learn her new duties and dodge shady government groups, she must ultimately discover what it truly means to be a Starship Captain. ------- There is no romance in this story.
