There is no need for a prison system. When the law of the land is; repay evil for evil. If someone hits you in the face you hit them back. Best friend sleeps with your wife, you sleep with their wife. Anything stolen has to be repaid or worked off in full.
The closest thing to a lawyer is an inquisitor. A person who is tasked with making sure the punishment fits the crime. Investigating the matter and reporting back with a verdict. Making sure that no matter is left uncompensated.
Instead of judges we have enforcers. They are in charge of making sure that every verdict is carried out to the letter. Facilitating the carrying out of verdicts if one or both parties are unable, or unwilling to proceed.
Recently, self proclaimed 'saints' have appeared. Offering to carry the judgement themselves instead of the intended offender. For a fee of course.
Which is where the Crusaders come in. A patrolling force that ensure that no parties interfere with the carrying out of justice for all.
