The Jackson 5 live in Gary, Indiana. The timeline for this story is different. It is 1970, and Joe Jackson, a widowed steel mill worker is now a single father trying to raise the five boys. They are showing signs of their musical gifts and are trying hard to please their father, but he just doesn't seem to understand patience or love. The only way Joe thinks he can gain respect is to be demanding and dole out harsh punishment if his sons do not comply. The boys don't have much freedom outside of going to school, playing small gigs, or walking to the store to get essentials. Jackie, the eldest, and with Tito's help, work hard to protect themselves and their younger brothers from their father's rage. This is a story of love, strength, and the music that keeps them together.

24 parts Complete
COMPLETED Welcome to book 3! Yes, Kayla and Michael made it past 1965 and 1966. Unfortunately, those were some of the easiest years of their new lives. Now, the fame of the brothers will begin taking effect, for the better or the worse. Not much happens in 1967. The year actually begins as peaceful, only getting serious around the seventh of each month. Of course, neither of the parents believe the kids... As the year progresses, things get serious with Motown. Joseph lobbies his hardest, trying and trying to get the boys signed. He shows that he will do nearly anything to get extra income into the household... and that means getting the boys to perform anywhere. Kayla and Michael struggle through this year, as fame is finally coming to the two of them. Will they succeed through another year of their new lives, or will they fail their biggest responsibility: keeping themselves alive? This story may make more sense if you read the first couple books. An old fashioned Story... A white girl named Winnie and her Family move out to a small nearby rural countryside town called Sunny Ville. Winnie came from an all girls boarding school, and her parents do not except black people into their family or around their community, only (what they disrespectfully class as) their own kind of people. They don't approve of her dating anyone other than who they approve of, and they definitely can't be a man of colour. Michael is a young man who works at the Local Organic Fruit & Veg stop in the Town Centre of Sunny Ville in Mr Sail's Shop, they sell everything from Organic Juices, Fruit & Veg, Nuts and Seeds, even Homemade Bread. Winnie's Mother always goes down to the Local Shop for her produce with Winnie by her side. She won't let her tread into the town alone, as she wants to protect Winnie and keep her safe, making sure she behaves and doesn't step out of line. Winnie hates feeling trapped and having to go everywhere with her Mother, or take a private horse and cart to school, that takes her straight there and back everyday. She feels like a prisoner. Michael want's to break her out of her shell, and show her the World she is missing out on. During this time, it was unacceptable for black and white people to mix and if you were ever seen with each other, trouble would be brewing in the town, and everyone would stare and despise on you. Mr Sail is a white man too, who agrees that black and white people are fine to mix amongst each other. But he just pretends to the town that he doesn't approve, and keeps Michael as his lower assistant worker when actually they get on so well, just so the town wouldn't ridicule Mr Sail. Winnie and Michael laid eyes on each other when Winnie's Mother first went into the Local shop for dinner. That's where it began...
