The Jackson 5 live in Gary, Indiana. The timeline for this story is different. It is 1970, and Joe Jackson, a widowed steel mill worker is now a single father trying to raise the five boys. They are showing signs of their musical gifts and are trying hard to please their father, but he just doesn't seem to understand patience or love. The only way Joe thinks he can gain respect is to be demanding and dole out harsh punishment if his sons do not comply. The boys don't have much freedom outside of going to school, playing small gigs, or walking to the store to get essentials. Jackie, the eldest, and with Tito's help, work hard to protect his brothers from their father's anger. This is a story of love, strength, and the music that keeps them together.
