April was just a normal girl, with normal friends. And a normal life. Until the accident. It killed her parents. It killed her brother, and little sister. 
And it killed April.
There was a piece of metal through her chest, sticking out the other side. But she stood up from the car wreck and walked away. But she wasn't alive.
Her heart didn't beat. She didn't breathe. She didn't need to eat or drink. And there was a three-inch hole where her heart used to be. 
April went to live with her grandparents in California. Starting at a new school, she had bigger things to worry about than making friends and getting the hot guy to notice her.
April should be dead.
But she wasn't.
