He couldn't do it. In the end, he was no monster. He was just a man, bound by the primal need to care. It didn't matter if it went against the gods will, he'd find a way to keep Astyanax and his family alive.

He held Astyanax closer and started to gently rock the infant, hoping to finally calm him. "I'm sorry... I'll protect you, I promise."

 

An AU where Odysseus spares Astyanax and more or less adopts him. The fanfic starts at Troy and will hopefully go all the way to Ithaca.
