Vivienne crossed her arms, sighing before snapping back. "You cannot feel love so you are doomed to chase that feeling for the rest of your life and will never be fulfilled. How tragic." Her tone was mocking and condescending.

His jaw clenched at her words, his expression hardening. He did indeed feel the lack of love, the missing piece of his soul. It was a weakness, a flaw that he despised with every fiber of his being. "Love? A weakness, an illusion, a distraction. Love has never been and will never be a concern of mine."

"What a desperate attempt for you to make yourself believe there is nothing wrong with you." Vivienne retorted as she brushed past him without another spare glance in his direction.

He stood, rooted to the spot, fuming with anger. She was right, of course. He hated that she was right. The lack of love, the emptiness within him... it was a wound that refused to heal. But he would never admit it to someone like Vivienne Guerra, or to anyone else, for that matter. Tom Marvolo Riddle was not a man who bared his soul, even to himself.
