The Maze trials

What if the Maze Trials were a game? An entertainment. People paying to watch people murdered by monsters or themselves. The games last around a year, usually, but what if one time a group of thirty enter into the Maze, but the flare breaks out. Over half the population loses their minds. And the competitors are stuck in the Maze, unknowing of the horrors outside.

Will they make it out alive? Make it out so they can see the world, for how it is now? Or will the group of friends found amongst the competitors be forced to kill each other?
