"So Maya quit Cobra Kai after she lost to that girl Sam in the All Valley?" Kwon asked his Sensei Kreese, not fully understanding the story.

Kreese scoffed at his questioning. "Are you kidding me? There wasn't a punch in this world that could stop Maya Diaz in her prime. She lost on purpose for her idiot brother and her girlfriend at the time. Then quit like nothing ever happened."

"But why?" Kwon questioned. "If she's so good in Cobra Kai then why not stay in Cobra Kai?"

"Because she didn't like the person she became. They called her Vampiress for a reason. Always out for blood."

Maya Diaz was designed to be a cold blooded fighter. Johnny Lawerence, John Kreese, and Terry Silver all had their hand in making the toughest fighter they had ever seen. She even won the All Valley tournament in 2018 when she was face to face with Robby Keene. Then stayed when her brother left the dojo. Well now things were different. 

After seeing that Cobra Kai wasn't the way, Maya quit the dojo after the All Valley tournament between her and Sam. She let Sam win, not wanting to go through the venom Cobras had anymore. 

Now being Captain of Miyagi-Do for the Sekai Taikai, she falls under defense. All in, and all the time. Never does she want to be known as Vampiress anymore.

But playing it safe doesn't win championships. Being the best does. And Maya is at her best with her Cobra Kai mentality.
