The earth beneath us quaked. A powerful wind roared to life, lifting debris into the air and sending it hurtling toward the Sentinels, forcing them to retreat. But even as I summoned the power, there was a part of me that recoiled at the devastation I was capable of. Edith's golden heart, her desire to protect, mingled with my fear, creating a strange balance. I wasn't just attacking-I was trying to survive.
The Sentinels, now retreating into the shadows, exchanged wary glances. One of them, the leader, gave a sharp signal, and they melted into the darkness, vanishing as swiftly as they had appeared. I stood there, panting, my body trembling with the aftershocks of the power I had unleashed. The storm continued to rage, but the world felt... quieter, as if the chaos within me had calmed-at least for now. "Edith," I whispered, my voice raw. "What did I just do?" Her presence lingered within me, gentle and reassuring. "You did what was necessary to survive. And you will continue to do so. Trust yourself, Aether."
For the first time since the Oracle's Eye had chosen me, I felt a flicker of control. Maybe the Champion was destined to rise-but I would rise on my terms, with Edith at my side. And I wouldn't let anyone, not even the Sentinels, dictate my fate.

My name was once Mia Elizabeth Vauthier. I was the princess of a great land where wolves, grander than any other creature shifted freely between animal and man. Where nature and its inhabitants lived together in an uninterrupted harmony. Where the supernatural was not abhorred by those arrogant beings that called themselves humans. Here the supernatural was just as part of nature as the trees and the grass, just as the Goddess had wished it to be. Since the day of my birth, I had been the envy of all the land. I don't know if I died or not, but the moment I regained my consciousness, I was already standing on a field full of grass and surrounded by trees. "W-what is that...?" A screen was floating in front of me. 「 Welcome, new adventurer! 」 "Adventur...rer?" But..... I'm so small! My body is the size of a 9 year old kid! In Shadows of Night
I woke to a sudden breeze invading the warmth from the heavy blanket that caressed my skin. Here, alone with my thoughts, the still, calm quiet in the atmosphere is almost painful. I feel suffocated in the clingy, static air. In quiet, still moments like these, I can almost feel Him. I don't know who "Him" is, but I can feel his presence. It's almost calming, especially on fearful, anxiety fueled nights. Usually, he was the strongest when I had a nightmare. The nightmares weren't as common now, but, right after everything happened, I was having them every night. I'd wake up and swear I was drenched in blood, my eyes and lips sticky, my nose filled with the smell of iron and fuel. After everything, that's when Him first came. From there, he just never left. I can usually sense when Him is near. Today, though, his presence is stronger. I can almost feel Him next to me, weighing down the mattress. Some nights, I roll over and imagine how he looks, envision his smile or the sparkle in his eyes. He's never there and I'm left clutching to the thought that he exists, staring into empty air. Tonight, though, I swear I can reach out and touch him. Extending my hand gently, I sweep my hand out into the darkness and meet an inexplicable warmth. A scream rips from my lungs as hands cover my face and two icy blue eyes stare back at me, daring me to speak again. A soft cloth caressed my nose and mouth before I felt myself fade into bed. She prodded at the realm of magic, the source of all spells and abilities. It was easily accessible. Thankfully, some places made it more and more difficult to open, but in the middle of a city where people had been using magic for thousands of years? Well, it was almost too easy. She bent the space at first, not so much drawing runes in the air as she was pulling them into sight. She could see them at all times, it was part of her magesight, most of what she needed when bending space was picking the right type of space to bend, some runes would never bind to regular matter, which was why it was so difficult to make a permanently distorted area since those runes were everywhere, tiny and hidden by Gium when he made the world.
