Like pitted fruit, I bite the ripe, sweet flesh of this love until I get to its core where the cyanide is stored. Swallowing it means to consume poison but my devotion gnaws at my bones like a famished dog and I devour, choking on the pit on the way down.

I tear up just a little as he speaks, I don't know the last time I cried happy tears. I bring my hands up to cup his cheeks, resting my forehead against his.
