Mae once visited a wishing well as a child and asked for one simple thing: good luck. Sadly, the universe doesn't work that way - everything must be in balance: Hammurabi's Law ("an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"). For 23 years of Mae's life, she has had the worst luck in the universe, quite literally: mirrors smashing, cars crashing, and worst of all, the accidental death of her sibling at the age of 2. After finally leaving college, she has no one to look after her antics and find herself worse off than ever - on the streets. Without a choice, she winds up at a homeless shelter, where suddenly her luck starts to turn around...
