Kya is a six year old from Arctica and younger twin sister to her older twin brother Korren, and future chief of Arctica. Kya has always stayed in the shadows not wanting to be seen as Korren's little sister. She wanted to be something more. She wanted to be a Dragon Rider after she heard the stories about them from some traders from Eura, who come to Arctica to trade with the villages. Kya's prayers to Suka the Polar Bear, one of the fifteen Great Beasts, are answered when a woman claiming to be Dragon Rider comes to their village. When Kya touches a dark purple dragon egg and it hatches Kya becomes one of the legendary Dragon Riders. Nimue is a non important six year old from Oceanus.
