The cracks ran through the sky like someone had tried to staple the night shut. They'd been there five years now - long enough for people to stop looking up.
They brought small changes into the world; radio glitches, flickering lights, an unstable sunrise...nothing too worrying. People adapted, they've learned to live with the cracks.

Life was normal.
