Beth has been living her life in the shadows, never staying in the same location. Beth is the last of her kind, or so she was led to believe. Beth is a skin changer, a race that used to be one of the greatest races to ever live.
When Beth meets Gandalf in a little town named Bree she discovers that her own darkest desires are about to come to light. When Gandalf forces her to join the company of Thorin Oakensheild, Beth finds that even in her world the help of one certain dwarven King can give her a whole new one.

Along with this comes soul bound mates-that are a natural thing for skin changers, likewise for the dwarves it is finding their one. How will Thorin behave when he discovers his one in the powerful skin changer? He says he'll wait till the quest is over but can he make it that long? For the reader, it's a whole new journey in more ways than one. Neither parties want to give up their mate as they are only blessed with just one in a lifetime. It is a little known fact that Thorin had come to dislike the race of elves; but perhaps it hasn't always been this way, maybe, just maybe, once upon a time there wasn't such high disdain held towards them. The dwarf-Prince's heart isn't as nearly as impenetrable as the vaults of Erebor, a chance find and visit cause a form to grow between two races. If anything the elf-Princess's curiosity about everything, and anything which involved or was created by the hand of dwarf's in turn piques his own curiosity, not finding how something so delicate could find fondness in things so hardened.
