Journey: Into The Never-ending Way
Why does one travel from a well known neighborhood to another where the outcome of the visit is not yet understood? I could name the streets and places in my neighborhood. There was a well defined map in my head that used comfortable explanations for what to expect. Then, everything changed. I drove up the hill, parked the car in a familiar place. When I walked into the house all the furniture was the same. Yet, when I sat beside him everything I knew went away. My mind was empty, only able to engage in superficial talk. I was afraid of his cancer. I didn't know what to say or how to help. I was lost in the whole sorry business. I gave him what comfort my presence was good for and, he gracefully accepted it like a brother would. Behind the warmest smile I could draw up was a deserted beach, waves of questions washing against my feet. A great ocean met the horizon and disappeared somewhere beyond where eyes could take a mind. Letters to God (Compact Version)
I feel I should offer a disclaimer; this will not be a book of pretty words and flowing writing. It might even have an odd format with short stories, prayers, poems, journal entries, and autobiographical tendencies. I will be the first to say that I'm not sure why I happened to seemingly be reincarnated into one Caroline Forbes? I don't do cheerleading, sure I'm perky with close friends, I'm sometimes overly blunt, I say random things and I don't do well with being bossed around without retaliating. Waking up by a vamp who would like to play with me and then drain me is not exactly my idea of a good time. It's not safe out there it'll never be. Every day is a fight to do the right thing. God has given us his laws, history, answers, and the truth. You know what I'm talking about. We call it the bible. I don't know what you believe in, and I'm not going to try to convince you... But who am I kidding. Most of you will either stop reading this book and never look at it again, and very few of you will continue. Some of you will read this to get answers, and some of you will take this information and twist my words against me, for those people... I will make myself VERY clear. I believe that God is real, I believe in his word, and that is why I am a Christian. (There is nothing to get that confused with.) To clear things up even more, I have a relationship with a real God, not some mythical creature made up in my head. Just because I am a Christian doesn't mean I am perfect, I make mistakes and I ask God for forgiveness and just because I am a Christian doesn't mean you should treat me any less.
