the burning heat of summer's sun, dirty converse, towering trees, and worn-down log cabins. camp blackwood desperately needs camp counselors, ̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶w̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶p̶p̶e̶n̶e̶d̶ ̶l̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶, and elowyn's been signed up for the job.
camp has all the usual things: horrible mess hall meals, uncomfortable work uniforms, teenagers smuggling in cases of beer, and an algae-covered lake that nobody really wants to step foot in. the other counselors- harry, niall, louis, liam, and the rest- seem friendly enough, even if some of them are acting like they know more than they're letting on.
but what the town's newspapers refuse to print-and what the directors won't admit- is that last summer, counselors started vanishing. one by one. no bodies, no explanations. just gone.
now, as the sun sets over the embers of the campfire, and the cicadas scream through the trees, elowyn is beginning to believe that whatever haunted the camp last year never really left. and maybe they weren't told the full job description.
welcome to camp blackwood! we're sure you'll enjoy your summer.
