Lost in the Fire

We were toxic till the end...

A phrase spoken with hope
But never, not once, proven true.

Love isn't a project.
People aren't puzzles missing just one piece.

They say opposites attract.

But for me, it meant constant friction
Arguing over values, clashing over silence, differences not celebrated but endured.

Eventually, they pulled us apart.

When fire meets water, one must give.
Either the flame is drowned, or the water boils away until nothing of it is left.

No one walks away the same

I won't say you wasted my prettiest years.
No... I gave them to you freely, believing it meant something.

But we were never healing.
We were surviving each other and fighting until there was nothing left to fight for.

We were toxic till the end....
